Chestnut Tours is an original concept by Wayne Barton, who for more than 20 years, has been conducting casual yet informative tours to Switzerland, Europe and Great Britain. Wayne is an internationally recognized artist of woodcarving and author who lived and studied in Switzerland. He is knowledgeable of Switzerland, and its culture and history, making his Switzerland tours a unique experience for those travelers who are looking for both adventure and learning.

About Your Guide

 As an artist and woodcarver, Wayne Barton's work is well known throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and other parts of the world. He was named Wood Carver Of The Year 2005. Wayne has written five books on woodcarving all recognized as the best in their field, published in six countries. He has designed and manufactured tools for woodcarvers sold worldwide and made numerous appearances on PBS television.
Wayne Barton took his formal training in the woodcarving center of Brienz and additional studies in Lucern, Switzerland. He's the only American to have his style of woodcarving in special exhibition for 18 months at the Swiss National Museum in Zurich. Having lived and studied in Switzerland, he has a great love for and understanding of this country, its friendly people and their charming culture.
With a desire to share his love, knowledge and experience of Switzerland with others, the concept of Chestnut Tours was created 20 years ago. The name is inspired by the delicious, fresh-roasted chestnuts or "maroni" sold on corners in every town and village in Switzerland in autumn when Wayne conducts his tours. While most tours are concentrated in Switzerland and surrounding countries (Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein and Italy), he also takes his travel tours to England, Scotland and Wales.
Because of his extensive knowledge of Switzerland, Wayne personally designs and conducts his Switzerland tours to do and see what other travelers rarely experience. It is a unique mixture of history, art, architecture & culture, excellent dining, wine-tasting and shopping with many other interesting surprises along the way all wrapped up in breathtaking scenery. Most importantly, it is Wayne's attention to detail and personal attention to your traveling comfort and enjoyment that makes this tour truly an adventure and experience to be enjoyed and remembered forever.
