1) Q: What kind of motor coach will we be traveling on?
A: Chestnut Tours exclusively uses luxury custom motor coaches which are high-seated for easy viewing, and built for maximum comfort and ample room for luggage and personal items. The motor coaches we use seat between 20 and 50 people depending on the size and itinerary of the tour.
2) Q: Will we be spending most of our time on the bus?
A: No. We generally spend more than one night at each location and take short day trips from there.
3) Q: Do I have to pay extra on the tour to see all the things cited on the itinerary?
A: No. Our tour is all inclusive; everything cited on the itinerary is included in the quoted price.
4) Q: What about meals?
A: Breakfast with beverages, and dinner is included every day. Dinner beverages are not included. Time is provided at lunchtime for those who would like to dine at their own expense. However, there are several special lunches which are included in the tour at various points at no extra charge.
5) Q: Do I have to follow the itinerary as stated or can I choose some down time or do something else if I want?
A: While we have geared our itinerary to be at a leisurely pace and have included many unique things to see that you might otherwise miss, we realize that occasionally our guests may need personal time for whatever reason. Normally our guests follow our itinerary, as it usually makes for the most rewarding travel experience.
6) Q: Is there any free time built in to the itinerary?
A: Yes. At nearly every stop, there is ample time for shopping, exploring or just relaxing. When we arrive at a hotel, your time is unstructured except for a specific dinner time (and breakfast which is usually buffet style). However, many evenings feature special activities and presentations which we're sure you won't want to miss.
7) Q: What is the class of hotel at which we will be staying at?
A: All hotels are 1st class with a private bath for each room. Accommodations will vary according to location.
8) Q: How much luggage am I allowed to bring?
A: One checked bag and one carry-on bag per guest. (see detailed description under "TERMS").
9) Q: What kind of clothing should I pack and should I bring anything special?
A: Our tours are designed around casual wear, but there are a couple of special occasions where a tie and jacket for men and dress for women would be appropriate. Think in terms of layers as mornings can be cool while the afternoon may be warm. While you're selecting your clothing, remember that most people tend to over pack. Sturdy and comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended.
10) Q: Is there a lot of climbing involved on this trip?
A: No. Although much of Europe is mountainous, our walking is casual and not of a long duration.
11) Q: Which air carrier do you use?
A: Our carrier for the Swiss tour this year is Swiss International Airlines which is renowned for their in flight service.
12) Q: How soon do I need to contact you to let you know I'll be joining your tour?
A: Because space is limited and there are necessary documents to be processed, we recommend that you let us know as soon as possible. We don't want to miss you!
13) Q: How are Chestnut Tours different from other tours?
A: While most tours are large with a generic itinerary, our tours are kept to a size that ensures personal attention and consideration to all of our guests and are handcrafted to show some of the often-missed and unique aspects of Europe. It's the reason why many of our guests return year after year.
